In Africa when someone has lost their joy or is depressed,

the first question they ask is - “when did you stop singing and dancing?”

Video from concert with Ronna & Tata Yawanawa at Yacumama last year.

Ronna 3.jpeg

Ronna and Tata Yawanawa are two brothers that are part of a new generation healers from the Yawanawa tribe, having done many dietas and studies with the guidance of their father Roque Yawanawa, the leader of the village Yawarany. They are very talented musicians who carry the transmission of joy or allegria from their home in the Brazilian Amazon and we promise you, their music will ignite that spirit of joy in every cell of your being! The songs of the Yawanawa are like anthems for humanity - it's as if they are already inside of our hearts.

Sito .jpeg

Sito Reno was born in France and was inspired from a young age by African and ethnic music in the multicultural music scene in Paris.

At the the age of 15, he started rapping, dancing and singing with hip-hop, reggae and dancehall. His music is influenced by his work with sacred medicines and the joy and liberation that African and ethnic rhythms bring.

He will be playing a live ecstatic dance set as a one man band creating layers of vocals, guitar, charango, Kora, N’goni, kalimbas, flutes, drums, electronic beats and more with a looping station. His set will be sure to have us grooving in a good way!

Yacumama is in Ojochal, a small town near the Pacific Ocean, known for its international fine dining, which is part of the Ballena (whale) Coast.

We are 30-40 minutes south of Dominical and 15-20 minutes south of Uvita, where the Envision Festival has been held for the past ten+ years.

Yacumama is a 3-4 hour drive southwest of the international airport, SJO. From San Jose you can also take a small plane or even hire a small private plane from anywhere in Costa Rica to Quepos airport which is about an hour north of Yacumama.

Yacumama means "Mother of the Waters" in Quechua. This pristine place offers a deep immersion into nature - just being here connected to the pure energy of the land and waters is healing in itself.

1000 feet above sea level on the Pacific coast, Yacumama is surrounded by lush verdant mountains.  The land is blessed with vast ocean vistas and abundant spring water that feeds a creek on the west, flowing parallel to a river with cascades & pools on the east. Pristine beaches where the jungle meets the ocean are a 10-20 minute drive to swim & surf in warm crystal clear waters.

About half of the nearly 100 acres is forest, home to abundant wildlife with mature trees and incredible biodiversity. We have ocean breezes throughout the day and cool air from the forested mountains that descends in the evenings.

This is powerful land, where we have found many relics from the original inhabitants of this area - the Boruca tribe, one of the eight indigenous tribes of Costa Rica. We are weaving connections and learning from the ancient ways of indigenous peoples from around the world including the Wixarika, Yawanawa, Shipibo, Kogi, Balinese and the Boruca.

My journey with Ixchel has changed my life. From the moment I arrived to the moment I left, I felt absolute safety & love. The level of inner growth is the most profound I have felt after any type of retreat or personal development experience. I'm stepping into all areas of life in a new and much more confident way with a level of liberation & expansion that's hard to explain.

One of the most magical parts of our retreats is the incredible Cacao Ceremony hosted by Ixchel. Over the last 5 years we’ve had many wonderful heart opening evenings. We dance, laugh, cry and sing together. Our tribes hearts become full, thank you!

The Yawanawa bring such powerful joy, community and togetherness with their presence and music. At the last Yawanawa event at Yacumama they had both young and old twirling and spinning, giggling and dancing together. They lifted our spirits and opened our hearts and facilitated an unforgettable moment of joy and togetherness.

Hola I'm Ixchel! I’m a ceremonialist, community builder, spiritual midwife, retreat facilitator, dancer, musician, entrepreneur, coach, permaculturist and eternal optimist who is passionate about human potential. In 2012 the portal of music opened up for me and I started playing guitar and receiving songs I am dedicating my life to the liberation of all beings, to the remembrance of our divinity, to the embodiment of our full potential.  Of course this starts with myself so I am right here with you on this continual journey of shedding the ego and remembrance of who we truly are.  My journey with psychedelics began 30 years ago at the age of 14 setting me on the path of self enquiry. In 2004 I experienced the most profound homecoming in my first ceremony with Ayahuasca. I got to connect with the part of myself beyond name, beyond time and space that has always been and will always be - free of the ego that was identified with any of my triumphs or failures.  Since then Ayahuasca and Huachuma have been my greatest teachers in helping me to be a better human. I have received so much from these master teachers that for the past 8 years I have been in full service to sharing their gifts around the world in ceremonial retreats. Creating immersive experiences of devotion & liberation is my greatest joy!  I weave together my passions and the practices that are my pillars - nature immersion, yoga, breathwork, sound healing, singing, dancing, sweat lodge, authentic relating, satsang, sharing circles and of course ceremony. I am the mother of a passionate 16 year old artist who has been raised with inspiration by a village in the community I co-founded in Bali with his dad 16 years ago.  These days I am happy having my hands in the earth in Costa Rica. I am currently creating Yacumama - an eco village, food & medicine forest and community retreat center for transformational experiences in the south Pacific side of Costa Rica. I bring the energy of the divine mother with fierce unconditional love, radical presence & authenticity to hold you through anything that arises. You will be supported in this space by my some of my dear beloveds who will also share their exquisite music. We look forward to welcoming you!

"I have been dreaming of creating a Tribal Song and Dance immersion and I’m so excited to share that it is happening at Yacumama post Envision festival.

For me, singing and dancing are some of the most important things in my life, deep spiritual practices. Dancing is like a moving meditation of pure flow state - whenever a thought or judgement comes up, I immediately miss a beat and drop out of flow state. Dancing helps me stay centered and connected to my breath.

Singing is the same, the ultimate meditation of pure presence. As soon as I think about something in the future, I can feel something go off. When I sing and dance with pure presence it is like making love with the divine, “I” step out of the way and the divine moves me.

Our commitment is to create a safe space of unity, free of judgement where you can let down your guard, feel accepted as you simply be yourself and have fun. space where you let all the parts of yourself you've shut down be seen and felt and let the original innocence of your soul shine and come out to play.

Part of the medicine of this immersion is to be together as a tribe, to remember what it feels like to belong & come home to ourselves. Singing and dancing all the way with pure allegria!"  - Ixchel Munay
